India hosting its first Software Conference
Mumbai and 1st and 2nd December 2009 will surely hold a special significance for DNV Software in the years to come. It was in this commercial capital of India and during these two days that a Software Conference was organized in India – for the first time.

Delivering the keynote address, Ketil Aamnes, Global Sales and Marketing Director in DNV Software, said: “Though this is my first visit to India, it will certainly not be the last one – given the potential and significance that the Indian market holds”. He also pointed to the fact that India’s economy is showing clear signs of an early recovery from the recent, globally-induced downturn.
DNV Software in not new to India. For more than a decade, this Independent Business Unit of DNV has been active in this country – especially within the process industry and in the field of Quantitative Risk Assessment. With a growing demand to serve our customers in India, DNV Software officially opened a new office 1 April this year in Hyderabad.
The objective behind organizing this software conference event in India was to extend and enhance the awareness about the software products and solutions that DNV Software currently offers and delivers through its three brands, Nauticus, Sesam and Safeti, catering respectively to the maritime, offshore and process industries.
This event in Mumbai aimed to bring together, not only the existing clients and learn from their feedback, but also solicit participation from prospective clients and introduce our software offerings.
Going by the encouraging response, wide-ranging representation and active participation in the two-day conference, the objective was certainly achieved and perhaps more importantly, a new journey has just begun.
One of the spinoffs from hosting this event was the two-day public training event covering Mooring and Riser Analysis that followed. Organized at short notice in response to requests from the participants, this public training course was delivered by DNV’s specialist Helge Skatun, immediately after the conference – on the 3rd and 4th December.
As investments gather momentum once again in the future growth of India’s Energy, Offshore Exploration and Production, Oil and Gas Pipelines, Maritime and the Industrial sectors, many exciting opportunities are expected to open up for DNV in general and for DNV Software in particular.

Eager participants at the Software Conference in Mumbai.
The consensus in Mumbai was that 2010 will be a year of new opportunities and next year’s DNV Software Conference in India will uphold this optimism. Meanwhile, DNV Software continues to strengthen further its customer service, training and support base in India, preparing for the future challenges and opportunities.
